Welcome to Himley Hall Sailing Club
Himley Hall Sailing Club is a small, family orientated club and is unique in the fact that it is based in a thatched boat house in the grounds of a stately home. We sail on a lake designed in the 18th century by the the world famous Capability Brown.
As well as being a thriving club with a special emphasis on young sailors which is recognised by our RYA OnBoard status, the Club is also a registered RYA Training centre and offers a number of training courses at competitive prices.

About our Club
The Himley Hall Sailing Club was started in December 1969, and is a small family club with some 50 members. The club is based on the Great Pool, within the grounds of Himley Hall, which is situated at the junction of the B4176 and the A449, approximately 4 miles from Dudley in the West Midlands.
Our clubhouse is the old thatched boathouse, a listed building, modified to give an area for eating and a small functional kitchen, providing hot meals and drinks on race days, together with an excellent, modern toilet and shower block adjacent. the downstairs of the boathouse provides an ideal teaching area.
Racing is held on Saturdays mornings. free sailing is available throughout the week (Level 2 RYA qualified) . Also a program of social events is organised by our Social Committee. We also have evening sailing during the summer months, and taster sessions for local youth groups such as the Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Scouts .
The Club has a large dinghy park with good launching facilities, and a grass foreshore, ideal for spectators (and ducks). For the families of members not wanting to sail, the park is an ideal place to walk and picnic. Membership is open for families, single and junior members.
For the historically minded, the boathouse (our clubhouse) is where Edward VIII began his courtship of Wallis Simpson which lead to his abdication, Himley Hall was a favorite retreat for the Royals of the day ! In 1934, the Duke and Duchess of Kent honeymooned at Himley Hall. King Edward VIII spent his last weekend there before his abdication in 1936.

Reviews
"We joined Himley Sailing Club as a family membership. Can I also say how glad I am that I picked Himley. The down to earth welcome from everyone has been fantastic. People have been helpful, supportive and friendly, This has also included the younger members of the club who are polite and a credit. Exactly what we needed."

"Having completed my level 1,2 & 3 at Himley, I can highly recommend the instructors and trainers, they were friendly and approachable, allowing me to learn at my own pace. I really enjoyed sailing at Himley, a fantastic location, perfect for learning and further developing my skills".
MY - Level 3 Trainee, Aug 2022
"This is where I learned to sail, gaining the RYA level 2. I went onto work in Greece for 5 years (for Neilson Active Holidays) as a yacht skipper and sailing instructor...so... getting wet in Himley Lake just might change you life".

"Just wanted to say thankyou so much for today's taster day. My daughter and her cousin (aged 6 and 5) went with one of the female instructors. She was brilliant with them and they loved it. There were two other male instructors there too and they were also fab.
They're keen to attend for the next session in June."
Thanks again,
